Junior Stone Fisher is a three-year starter for Crescent on both sides of the line as a guard and defensive end. As a freshman, Fisher finished with 43 tackles and two sacks and followed that up with 48 tackles and two sacks last season.
“Stone’s an aggressive player on top of being 6-foot-2 and 250-pounds,” coach J.L. Fisher said.
“He’s a handful for offenses when we’re on the defensive side of the ball. And we like to run behind him when we’re on offense. He’s definitely a big player for us on both sides.”
With the size and speed of the all-district lineman, Fisher can play multiple positions on the field.
Against district opponent, Oklahoma Christian Academy, last season, Fisher was put in the
backfield during a two-point conversion to force overtime. Fisher was handed the ball out of the backfield and muscled his way into the end zone to force OT.
Football runs in the Fisher family as Stone is a third-generation football player at Crescent, with the grandfather, Jerry, starting his high school career at Crescent in 1959. Fisher’s dad, J.L, and older brother, Trent, also played football at Crescent with all three of them having the chance to play for a state championship.
“I hope that this group of guys can step up and allow Stone the same opportunity that our family had in playing for a state championship,” J.L. Fisher said. “If it were to come full circle that would just be the icing on the cake.”
When he’s not competing on the football field, Fisher is a powerlifter for the 275-pound weight class. Last season, he qualified for state with a combined bench, deadlift, and squat of 1,200 pounds. Fisher is also a state qualifier in track & field, where he placed 8th in the shot put.
Outside of athletics, Fisher can be seen helping his grandfather run his farm throughout the year.
“He’s a great kid loves to hunt and fish and work on the farm,” J.L. Fisher said. “He’s always been the outdoor type of kid who is willing to jump in and help anytime somebody needs it. He’s one of those kids you can always count on when the going gets tough on the football field or off it he’s always available.”
