Edmond Memorial Bulldogs 2023 Football Team Preview – Presented by Danielle Hill – Shelter Insurance

EDMOND MEMORIAL BULLDOGS

Coach: LOGAN THOMAS

4-7

OFFENSE

Heading into his third season at the helm of the Bulldog football program, Logan Thomas is excited about the makeup of his team and what he thinks they can accomplish this season. “We return a large amount of starters on both sides of the ball, from a team that made the playoffs last season in 6A-1,” he said. “Excited about some upcoming sophomores and their ability to improve our team. We have had great momentum building over the last two seasons, and this team is ready to add to it.” After passing for 1,600 yards and fourteen touchdowns, David McComb (6-3, 220, Jr.) will lead the team at quarterback again this season. He also added three rushing touchdowns. Joining him in the backfield is running back Rhett Winchester (5-11, 180, Jr.), who had 1,000 total yards and eight scores. The wide receiver duo of Ciaran Pedulla (6-2, 200, Sr.) and Levi Peck (6-3, 190, Sr.) will look to be targets on the outside for McComb. Last season, Pedulla had four receiving touchdowns and also threw three touchdown passes, while Peck brought in three scoring passes.

DEFENSE

On the defensive side of the ball, the Bulldogs will work to shut down opposing offenses with their athletic ability. “We will be athletic up front,” Coach Thomas said. “Our defensive ends and linebackers are all very experienced players who will provide a tone of value to the defense.”  After having big numbers last season, linebackers Karson Evans (6-0, 200, Sr.) and Izaiah Spotwood (6-2, 205, Sr.) are ready to continue to be forces for opponents to deal with. Evans registered 81 tackles, two sacks, and an interception, while Spotwood had 60 tackles, five sacks, and nine tackles for loss. On the line, defensive end Leland Smith (6-2, 230, Jr.) and defensive tackle Devin Gillispie (6-0, 300, Jr.) will look to continue to wreak havoc on opponents. Last season, they had 55 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and a sack. Vincent Mitchell (5-11, 175, Sr.) and Dillon Stidwell (6-1, 170, Sr.) will be in the secondary ready to take on whatever is thrown at them. Mitchell had 55 tackles, one interception, and broke up four passes, while Stidwell had 36 tackles and six pass breakups.
