Edmond Memorial Bulldog’s Girl Basketball Preview – Presented By Integris Health Edmond

Coach: Rachel Crabaugh

20-21 Record: 11-8

After going through the growing pains of a young roster last year, the Edmond Memorial Lady Bulldogs are ready to get back to competing at the highest level of Class 6A. “This season we are returning four starters and have a very strong junior class that now has some experience playing together,” says head coach Rachel Crabaugh. “We are also adding some talented freshmen to the mix and looking forward to growing as a team.” Leading Edmond Memorial on the floor is Baylor Franz (5-6, Jr.). The highly touted guard averaged 14.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.3 steals per game last season. “Baylor is our motor,” says Crabaugh. “She has great ball handling skills, sees the floor well, is extremely coachable, and her effort cannot be matched.” The combo guard currently has offers from several schools and she is expected to pick up more as her game continues to grow.

Lexi Hensley (5-4, Jr.) might not put up huge numbers for Edmond Memorial but her contributions are crucial to the Lady Bulldogs success. “Lexi is reliable, honest, trustworthy, and consistent,” says Crabaugh. “She builds up the people around her with her tenacious spirit. She is the spark that our team needs to battle through adversity.” Avery Hjelmstad (6-0, Fr.) is one of the top freshmen in the state and is expected to play a key role for Edmond Memorial this season and for the next four years. “Avery is a very versatile player,” says Crabaugh. “She has a great shot and is extremely long, making her a big offensive and defensive threat. She is going to do big things for us this year.” Other girls expected to play key roles for the Lady Bulldogs this year are Makenna Hall (6-1, Jr.), Ella Hamlin (5-9, Jr.), Addy Johnson (5-8, Jr.), and Kailyn Berry (6-0, Jr.).
