BOYS
Coach: Scott Norris
20-21 Record: 19-6
Following a trip to the state semifinals last year, Scott Norris knows this year’s team will need to grow throughout the season to achieve their goals. “We will be a young team but a hungry team,” says Norris. “We have a good core of three returners that provide great leadership. Our team will improve with every game and should be really strong in February and March.” The top returner for Edmond North is forward Dylan Warlick (6-5, So.). Warlick averaged 12.0 points and 9.0 rebounds as a freshman. He is expected to take that next step and be an even more dominate force this year. A key senior for Edmond North is Cahlese Lee (6-2, Sr.). “Cahlese is a senior that hasn’t played much but I look forward to him having a huge season,” says Norris. Sophomore TO Barrett (6-3, So.) is a talented point guard that Norris expects to improve throughout the season. Other Huskies expected to contribute are Cole Greene (5-10, Sr.), TJ Strong (6-6, Jr.), Bryson Buckingham (5-10, So.), and Bryce Potts (6-6, So.).
GIRLS
Coach: Pete Papahronis
20-21 Record: 22-3
Following a fantastic 2020-2021 season that included two tournament championships and a trip to the state semifinals, Pete Papahronis has high expectations for this year. “We return all five starters with a great move-in,” says Papahronis. “We should have good depth this year. We also hope to return to the state tournament for the third year in a row and will try to make some noise.” Laci Steele (5-10, Jr.), Elle Papahronis (5-11, Jr.), and Toni Papahronis (6-0, Sr.) all return this year after earning first team all-conference honors last season. Steele, who was named conference offensive player of the year, led the Lady Huskies with 20.9 points per game last season to go along with 7.5 rebounds. Elle Papahronis also scored in double digits averaging 14.7 points and led the team in rebounds (8.9 per game), steals, and charges taken. She was named conference defensive player of the year. Toni Papahronis also averaged double digit points last season with 10.6 points per game. She also grabbed 6.4 rebounds per game and led the team in blocks and assists. The other two returning starters are guard Ataya Casaus (5-6, Sr.) and guard Allison Heathcock (6-0, So.). Ryan Franklin (6-2, Sr.) is a center that transferred in from Westmoore, where she started for three years. A couple of other players expected to be key contributors are Kate Melton (5-6, So.) and KK Peeler (5-0, So.).
