Edmond North’s Ady Bechtel – Girls Soccer Spotlight Presented By Integris Health Edmond

By Derrick Smith

Every athlete has a moment that they keep close in their memory – whether it is a personal achievement or a team victory, the memory has importance to the athlete. Ady Bechtel’s favorite moment came last soccer season.

“The highlight of my career is really hard to choose,” she said. “But I think it would have to be scoring the winning goal against Union High School last season. That win put us in the state finals. It was a great win and knowing that I helped play a role in it made it even more exciting.”

Bechtel is a sophomore at Edmond North High School. She plays soccer and runs cross country for the Huskies, while she also plays club soccer for Oklahoma Energy.  Along with playing sports, she is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Since the age of four, soccer has been a part of Ady’s life. Over that time span, she has seen herself grow both as a person and as a soccer player. She says that there is a lot of work that is required in order to be your best.

“It has taken a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to get where I am today,” she stated. “But having good teammates and coaches that help me get better is definitely what has helped the most.”

It is evident that Ady loves the game of soccer, but if you know her you know that her life is more than just sports.
“What inspires me on the field the most is to play for Jesus and use my talent that he blessed me with for good,” she said. “I’m extremely excited to see what the rest of my high school career brings and am so thankful for the opportunities and people that God has blessed me with.”
