Over the span of their career, an athlete has to work hard in order to be their best. Not only do they have to be physically prepared, but they also have to be mentall ready to compete also. Dylan Warlick attributes his success to the preparation he has put in.
“It takes a lot of work and dedication to be your best,’ he said. “You also have to be willing to outwork your competition.”
Dylan is a sophomore at Edmond North high school. He is a forward for the Huskies’ basketball team. He began playing basketball ten years ago and he loves the sport as much now as he did back then.
While he has put in a lot of work and devoted a lot of time in order to improve his game, Warlick says that there are two people that have also always been there for him and he says that he would not be the person he is today without them.
“My parents are the biggest role models in my life,” he said. “They push me everyday to be a better person and player. I am very thankful for them.”
Being a student at Edmond North, Dylan has sat through lessons from numerous teachers. But he says that there is one teacher that he enjoyed learning from.
“Mr. Hemans would have to be my favorite teacher,” he said. “He made learning biology fun and is a great guy.”
Edmond North boys basketball coach, Scott Norris, says that Dylan is an outstanding kid and looks to be a key player this season.
“He had a great freshman season last year,” the coach said. “I have no doubt that he will be a huge part of our offense this season. He will be an important part of the team.”
Throughout his career, Warlick says that he has made some great memories with his teammates, both on and off the court. But his favorite personal sports memory happened this past year.
“I would have to say making it to the final four in the Nike EYBL Peach Jam this past summer would have to be my highlight moment.”
Dylan is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
