Edmond Santa Fe’s Cheer Team – Presented by Community Builders

Success for a cheer team can depend on a lot of things, but one thing in particular is team chemistry. If the team does not get a long, the routines and cheer can suffer.
Jennifer Ortiz is in her fourth season as the head cheer coach at Edmond Santa Fe High School. She knows the importance of of team chemistry and gives her squad time to get to know each other better and grow as a team. “We have multiple team bonding activities throughout the year,” Ortiz said. “From pool parties to crafting and sleepovers, we spend a lot of time together and that really helps in our relationships
and our readiness when the lights come on.

Senior captain Brice Harvey is proud to be a cheerleader for the Wolves and helping the crowd cheer on the players on the field. “What I enjoy most about cheering for my school is the school spirit.,” she stated. “Being able to cheer on the team and excite the crowd at games is a great experience. There is so much excitement and enthusiasm throughout the school on game day and I love being apart of that.”
Along with sharing her school spirit, Brice is thankful for the group that she gets to cheer alongside and says they work together very well.

“One thing that I enjoy most about my team is how we can all come together to complete a goal,” she said. “If there is something we want to do we get it done together and are able to bond in the process. We are always so excited and pumped before a game or event.” Coach Ortiz says that one that that really drives the team and helps give them a boost is their love for their school and helping spread that school spirit. “Our team’s biggest strength is our love for our school,” she said. “We love getting the student section up and cheering at assemblies and games.
