Q&A with Edmond North’s Sydney Henderson – Presented By Danielle Hill-Shelter Insurance

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Sydney: Ava Greene, my high school teammate, has made the biggest impression on me. Her strong character keeps her disciplined while pushing others to work hard and showcase their own talents. Ava is a great captain who is probably a little too hard on herself, but she sets the standard for everyone else to try their best to reach.

VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?

Sydney: My favorite memory of playing is waking up at the crack of dawn for a game in Arizona, and we were greeted with the most gorgeous sunrise I have ever seen in my life. It was such a serene and beautiful moment with my teammates that I will remember forever.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

Sydney: My favorite part about being on a team is the built-in family dynamic. My teammates are some of my best friends, and without soccer, I would have missed out on building those relationships that have been so crucial to my development and values.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Sydney: My sport has taught me the power of communication and how to build relationships with people on and off the field.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

Sydney: I am passionate about soccer because it is a worldly sport that brings communities together. Playing soccer automatically creates bonds with those who might not even speak the same language. Soccer is, therefore, the universal language of sports.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Sydney: If I could pick any place for a summer vacation, I would choose to backpack around Europe. I’ve always been fascinated with the history and culture found on the other side of the pond. I would choose to take my sisters, parents, and my best friends, Sophia Brentlinger and Trystan Turner.

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?

Sydney: My all-time favorite post-game meal is hands down Cane’s. Their texas toast and signature sauce are the best thing in the world after running around for hours.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Sydney: The best advice I have received is to not stress about anything out of your control.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

Sydney: I want to thank Brenton Dawson for seeing my potential and recruiting me to join their soccer program in England. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I am ecstatic that I have the chance to fulfill it.
