Kailey Stuart started playing volleyball in the 6th grade. She can thank her sister for
getting her involved. “I was going to her practices and began to fall in love with the sport
and decided to try it out,” she said.
Now a Junior at Carl Albert High School, Kailey’s favorite memory of playing volleyball
is from last year when their team made it to state and she got to play in the tournament
with her sister.
While winning is fun, Kailey says volleyball has taught her that there is more to it. She
has become a leader and gained confidence in herself to help others when they are
struggling.
Rather than looking up to a particular professional athlete, Kailey believes it is more
important to see the greatness in yourself and believe in yourself.
“The best advice I have received is don’t get too comfortable where you are, there is
always room to improve, no-one is perfect,” she says, “there is always something good
to learn, even from the bad.”
Kailey is passionate about volleyball. “It’s such an exciting atmosphere. Getting to hype
each other up just makes me want to be there everyday; it’s where I can utilize all my
abilities to help my teammates and my teammates help me,” said Kailey.
Teammate Eden Schroeder leaves a big impression. “At every practice and in games,
Eden is everyone’s biggest fan. She always makes sure there is energy on the court
and makes sure when you do something good you know that you did something good,”
says Kailey.
Kailey is inspired by family. “I can’t just choose one person because they all offer
something completely different that inspires me to be the best I can be,” she says.
Kailey is part of a club volleyball team, FCA, YFC, and leadership.
