Choctaw High School junior Preston Albee is a golfing veteran, having played his first golfing tournament at the young age of just 6 years old. Preston plays First Bag from the Choctaw Yellow Jackets.
In regards to what it means to represent his school and his community, Preston accounted, “I love to go out and show people what I am all about. Also, when I represent my community, I know that back home, they are rooting for me.”
Asked what it has taken Preston to become successful in golf, he did not hesitate to explain. Preston stated, “It has taken lots of time and very hard work.”
In terms of a person that has stood out to Preston, he looks toward family. Preston stated, “The person that stands out the most to me would be my great grandpa. We called him papaw. He always had a smile on his face and he really just show me what golf was all about. One of the last things he told my grandpa to tell me was to never forget that I play the game because I love the game, and to never forget to have fun when I am out there. That has really stuck in my memory.”
When it comes to a role model for Preston, he proclaimed, “My role mode is the same as a lot of people right now, and it’s Scottie Scheffler. Not for the amazing golf he plays, but for the kind of person he is and the way that he puts God above all else and family next above golf.”
In addition to being a golfer for the Choctaw Yellowjackets, Preston is a member of The National Honor Society.
After graduating from high school, Preston plans on pursuing higher education, as well as being a collegiate golfer. Preston stated. “I am going to college to play golf at the University of Oklahoma, and I plan on going professional after my time there.”
