Wisdom has no age requirement.  Asher Edelen may be just in his Sophomore year at Christian Heritage Academy but he is mastering the art of being a team player.  Already on the Varsity team during his Freshman year, Asher made the all tournament team in the ‘23 Newcastle Wood-Bat Tournament.  He knows being a good teammate means being selfless and sacrificing personally for the good of the team.

Asher is building his spiritual foundation as well as his athletic one and he pays attention to the skills that build both.  Asher saw these skills in Mr. Hartman, his instructor, who operates in joy and kindness and incorporates biblical truths in all he teaches.

Asher’s dad is one of his heroes and he encourages Asher to be accountable, not just practicing when it’s required but on his own time.  Jake Goodman, another inspiration, motivates Asher to have Christ-centered character, both on and off the playing field.

Being a positive influence to younger student athletes is top priority and for Asher, the wise words of Coach Cargill (OC) “Keep giving it your all, kee;p working hard until hell freezes over because you are playing for a bigger purpose than just going on the field and playing a game, you are playing for God, your creator, the One who gave you your abilities to play the sport you love.”  are ever present in his mind.Asher is involved in his youth group and bible studies when he’s not training.  He is grateful to Zac Harris, Jake Goodman, Eli Hill, Nate Jines and Jake Hale for being great examples of leadership.  He is thankful for Coach Franks, Coach Davis, Coach Blackshire, Coach Cargill, Coach LJ, Coach Stringer,  and Coach West for being top notch coaches and his parents for everything they do.
