Lanie Moore- Carl Albert High School Presented by Guerrero Electrical

Representing one’s school as a student athlete boosts pride and confidence. For Lanie Moore, a senior at Carl Albert High School, basketball is more than just a school activity.
“It is being able to be a part of something that is bigger than myself,” she said.
Basketball taught Lanie that hard work and determination pay off. She is passionate about her sport, taking pride in her accomplishments and those of her teammates. “I know the younger me would be proud of how far I’ve come,” said Lanie.
Her favorite part of being on a team is getting to spend time with teammates and
building friendships. Many of Lanie’s best memories are from her time playing ball at CAHS. “When I moved to Carl Albert my junior year and made my first three-point-shot, the whole bench went crazy,” she said.

Lanie first joined a team in fourth grade when her mom signed her up for Boys & Girls Club Basketball. “I fell in love with basketball!” she exclaimed.
She admires her mom. “Mom never gave up and always made sure that I always went to AAU practices and games even when she didn’t want to.” To make up for all the time her mom spent driving her from one event to another, Lanie would love to take a trip to France with her mom.
Lanie has a strong support system to help her succeed. She appreciates everyone in her life who has helped her along the way. “I want to say thank you to my mom, brother, stepdad, and all of my teammates!” she says.
Lanie looks up to other basketball players. Her teammate Ausha Moore is a great leader and someone to look up to. The pro player she most admires is Michael Jordan. “He never gave up when it got tough, he always persevered through everything,” she said. Lanie says her favorite teacher was her sixth-grade teacher because he listened to his students and treated them like adults not kids.
“It gets harder before it gets easier,” is the best advice she has been given. Lanie knows there are times when things get tough. Athletics builds character helping people through those tough times.
