BOYS
Coach: Corky McMullen
20-21 Record: 17-6
With only one returning starter from last year’s team, Midwest City head coach Corky McMullen knows his team’s biggest weakness will be inexperience but he also knows that his Bombers will have plenty of talent to compete. “We have a good mix of upperclassmen and underclassmen that will have an impact for us,” McMullen says. “Our strength is our depth. This is also one of the most cohesive groups we have had. This group is no stranger to hard work and they love to compete. Our effort and harmony will allow us to compete with anyone.” Leading Bombers is guard/forward Keivon Hudson (6-6, Sr.). McMullen says Hudson is long and athletic. He averaged 8.0 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per game. “Keivon has improved his catch and shoot range over the summer. He has the ability to play inside, in the mid-post, and on the outside. He has also grown into a leader and guys just want to follow him,” says McMullen. An underclassman McMullen is excited about is guard Justin Jones (5-7, So.). “He is the future of our program,” says McMullen. “Justin is a scoring point guard that is very intelligent. He understands timing, spacing, and angles and is one of the most competitive players we have.” Other players expected to contribute for the Bombers are guard/forward Jacobi Sebock (6-5, Sr.), Ronnie Thomas (5-11, Sr.), Artez Young (6-0, Sr.), Amos Mobley (6-2, Jr.), and Bryan Williams (6-0, So.).
GIRLS
Coach: Megan Maloy-Knight
20-21 Record: 16-7
With several returning players coming back from last year’s state tournament team, head coach Megan Maloy-Knight is excited about this year’s group. “The Lady Bombers return five key players from last season,” Maloy-Knight says. “These girls are an athletic, hardworking, and extremely coachable group. We also have two seniors we are adding back into the program after they missed last year with ACL injuries.” Taniya Looney (5-9, Sr.) is a quick, athletic guard who isn’t afraid to do the little things. An underclassman to watch for the Bombers De’Yanna Douglass (6-0, So.). “De’Yanna is an athletic sophomore post with the ability to dribble and shoot well beyond the perimeter,” says Maloy-Knight. Other key players for the Bombers include Bryanna Williams (5-6, Sr.), Taliyah Anderson (5-5, Sr.), LaTasha Mitchell (5-8, Jr.), Myracle Washington (5-7, Jr.), Mya Brown (5-5, Jr.), and Jya Barksdale (5-5, Jr.).
