High school athletes can have a number of people that they look up to as role models. While some may look up to celebrities and famous superstar athletes, Kenneth Colston has someone he is close to that has made an impact on his life.
“I would say one of my role models is my older brother,” he said. “He’s taught me a lot and seeing him excel at his sport in college and seeing him have a passion for the game that not many people have these days really sparked something in me to really drive for what I want.
The biggest influence on my life is the almighty one above, God.”
Colston is a senior at Midwest City High School where he is a member of the football and baseball teams.
Throughout his career, Kenneth has put in a lot of time in order to be at his best when he steps on the field. And he knows the work is worth it because he has seen it pay off on the field.
“It has taken a lot of sweat and hard work to become successful in my position and in my sport,” he said. “Nothing Is just going to be given to me so I have to go work for it if I really want it. I think my highlight moment was probably when I got my first varsity touchdown my sophomore year against Northwest Classen, it was a moment that didn’t feel real at all but I knew in the back of my head that it would all become real in the next two years, and it has.”
When he puts on that Bombers uniform, Colston knows that he is playing for a lot more than just himself and that is something that he is proud to be able to do.
“It means a lot to represent my community and be the face of Midwest city High School when someone talks about football,” Kenneth stated. “The first question someone will ask is ‘well who’s the quarterback’ and my objective is for everyone to know that answer by season end. Another is going out in the community and someone recognizes me form the field and talks to me and learning that they are a Midwest City alumni, that’s just a pretty great feeling.”
