Since the age of four, Sammy Gonzalez has called the baseball diamond home. Now a senior at Carl Albert High School, Gonzalez is ready for his final year of prep baseball.
“We have our mind on another ring of course,” said Gonzalez. “I feel like I’ve been great all around, but I want to keep getting better everywhere and I’m most improved everywhere.”
As a student-athlete at CAHS, Gonzalez said taking baseball as far as he can is the plan for the future.
“I want to play at the next level and take this baseball stuff far,” said Gonzalez.
The love he has for his teammates and the ability to represent his school is real. You see it when you watch him play.
“My teammates talk me up and keep my head straight but will always tell me the truth no matter what and I think that’s just characteristics of a great teammate and friend,” said Gonzalez. “I love the friends, teachers, and especially the coaches around here. We’re known to win and always have a target on our back. I love that challenge.”
When asked about the best player in baseball, Gonzalez did not hesitate.
“The best player in history is Barry Bonds, but like right now it’s Ronald Acuna Jr.,” said Gonzalez.
