COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL ROYALS
GIRLS
Coach: Chad Thrailkill
22-23 Record: 16-9
By all accounts, 2023 was a successful year for the Royals, but an early exit and 2-point loss at the hands of Bishop McGuinness in the playoffs left CCS with unfinished business. “This year’s team will have a lot of returning players with a couple years of experience, and we also have a younger group that will help us win games,” head coach Chad Thrailkill said. “Depth is going to be our key to a successful season. Our guards will be able to shoot the 3 very well, and we will also be able to score at the block. We will play a very up-tempo style both offensively and defensively.” Preslee Hartsock (5-7, Jr.),a floor general and variety scorer, will be one of the team’s top returning players. “[Hartsock] is a pass-first point guard who has great court vision. She can shoot the 3-pointer or get to the rim when needed,”
Thrailkill said. “Defensively, she is very aggressive and will lead our team most likely in steals. Does anything her team needs her to do in order to win. Preslee is someone that just wills her team to win.” Sadie Thrailkill (5-7, Jr.), meanwhile, is one of the best sharpshooters in the class. “[Sadie] is a very good 3-point shooter that stretches the opponent’s defense nightly,” the elder Thrailkill said. “She has developed the ability also to finish at the rim. Very good in offensive transition of running the floor and finding open shots.” Preslee Schrader (6-0, So.) “can score from the 3-point line or attacking the basket off of the dribble. “She uses her size to alter opponent’s shots on the defensive end, and she is also a very good rebounder,” Thrailkill said. Meanwhile, Hope Martin (5-10, Jr.) “has one speed, and that is full speed,” Thrailkill said. “She uses her length to affect both ends of the floor. She is just a player that is always around the ball and makes good things happen.”
