2024 Norman High School Girls Soccer – Presented by Valliance Bank

Norman Girls Soccer

Coming off a 10-6 season last year, head coach Kevin Chesley is looking forward to getting the Norman girls back on the pitch and competing. One reason for his excitement is the defense.

“We have a strong core returning, including most of our defense. Our offense will be led by some amazingly talented players. We should be able to score a lot of goals,” said Chesley.

Aniya Facen (Sr.) is one name the Lady Tiger faithful should be familiar with after last season. Facen has scored 38 goals with 21 assists in the last two seasons. At her pace, Facen could finish her career as one of the top five goal scorers in Norman HS history. She is committed to play for the University of Tulsa.

“She has a rare combination of speed, strength, power, and agility that sets her apart from everyone else. She has track level speed, can jump over anyone that she wants, and can bully defenders off the ball. Mixed with this athleticism is an amazing skill with the ball, and a tactical awareness of the field,” said Chesley.

Kimberlyn Bruehl (Sr.) moved into the district last year from Texas and is making her presence felt on the field. A leader for the Tigers, Bruehl has grown into a solid player who understands the game is encourages her teammates.

“She is a coach on the field and has a strong tactical awareness. When a pass needs to be made, or a tackle needs to take place, you will often find Kimbo making it happen,” said Chesley.

Another leader is Addie Rice who leads by example. Known for being involved in many activities outside of sports, Rice has dedicated herself to becoming a standout player for the Tigers. Also look for Avery Raney (So.) who started all 13 games she played in.

“She had four goals and four assists in those games, and I expect her to really come into her own this season. I think she will be in a more creative spot and will be able to use her skills to help propel the team this season,” said Chesley.

Other players coach Chesley mentioned as making a difference this season include Luci Flores, Carys Lindsay, Ally Garn, Elle Mohrmann, Mackenzie Meyers, Elle Lockhart, and Jane Lockhart.
