Head Coach: Cody Merrell
2023 Record: 19-17
Coach Merrell and the Norman Tigers are in position to have a memorable season thanks to the returning starters and the big sticks the Tigers will feature in the lineup.
Merrell said this is a scrappy group of players and he’s looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish.
“We have a lot of experience returning. Teams top four hitters and a lot of innings on the mound. Scrappy group of guys,” said Merrell.
It’s undeniable that one of the top players in the state, Dax Noles (Sr.) is a difference maker at the plate and in the field at shortstop. Merrell said Noles is the most athletic player on the field regardless of the opponent.
“Will be the most athletic kid in the field. Has committed to play defensive back with OU Football next fall but has the skills to be drafted. Four-year starter and has gotten better every year. Wouldn’t trade him for anyone else,” said Merrell.
Another player the Tigers will lean on this season is Trace Redwine (Sr.). Redwine is one of the hardest workers on the field for the Tigers.
“Everyday Eddy,” said Merrell. “Relentless worker. Great teammate and always has his teammates backs.”
Other seniors include Rylan Schuchman who will play centerfield, Hollis Breeding will play multiple positions in the infield, and Noah Flanagan who is expected to pitch and play catcher. Noles will start at shortstop, while Redwine is expected to play first base and pitch.
Underclassman Preston Baublit is one of the quickest base runners for the Tigers.
