VYPE: How does the team look this year?
Darian Grant: We’re looking good and with the coaches we have, we’ll be pretty good.
VYPE: Coaches call you a “do it all player” after you scored 19.0 PPG last year. What does that compliment mean to you? What do you think are your best skills on the court?
DG: Yeah, I think I do whatever it takes to get the job done. And I’d say my defense.
VYPE: Can we expect similar numbers this year?
DG: Numbers are not really up to me. I play to win. Whatever comes with that comes with it.
VYPE: Why was Harding University the right place for you?
DG: Just felt like family there and in my eyes it’s not all about basketball for me. Who’s going to put me in a better position in life?
VYPE: How did your basketball journey begin? How old were you and who introduced you to the game?
DG: My basketball journey began when I was in fifth grade. And I give thanks to my childhood coach Tramble, big role model for me.
VYPE: What are the greatest lessons you’ve learned through basketball?
DG: Man, that there are going to be challenges in life and adversity. And just to take things as they are day by day.
VYPE: What’s one thing everybody should know about Darian Grant but not everybody does?
DG: I’m a wholesome guy and really nice, and I love family.
VYPE: What are your plans for life after basketball?
DG: To settle down with my high school sweetheart and build a family. And hopefully I’m successful enough to help out the ones that helped me here. Especially my beautiful mother.
