VYPE: How did your football journey start? How old were you?
Corey Dean: My football started when I was 12 in the eighth grade, and I had started playing football because everyone was telling me I should play and I just wanted to try something new.
VYPE: Why do you think you gravitated so much towards football?
CD: At first, I didn’t gravitate towards football that much, but when I got to that varsity high school level, the energy and the support from teammates and fans was just unbelievable especially on game day so it made the game much more enjoyable.
VYPE: You’ve had a big senior year as an individual. Did you have a chip on your shoulder heading into this season?
CD: Yes, I would say I had something to prove and that I could perform at a high level.
VYPE: It’s been an up-and-down year for Moore as a team. How much have you strived to be a leader to those guys?
CD: I’ve put in a lot of effort to uplift the team and make sure everyone’s in the right mental space throughout the week and make sure they’re ready on game day.
VYPE: We want to give you a chance to talk about your recruiting. How are you feeling about your offers and what’s going into your decision?
CD: I feel good about all my offers. They each have their own ups and downs but overall they all are offers that I would consider. I’m big on the culture of the program and coaching staff, how they are academically as a school, how they are in the weight room, their defensive schemes, and just if I would consider them family and feel cared about enough to spend the next 4 years of my life there.
VYPE: What’s something everybody should know about Corey Dean, and why?
CD: I think people should know that I’m a hard worker and I put a lot of unseen hours into training to get where I am now. It wasn’t an overnight thing and it certainly wasn’t handed to me.
VYPE: Which player on an opposing team do you have the most respect for, and why?
CD: I respect every time and player I go against, and I don’t know most of the players I go against so I wouldn’t say I respect anyone more than someone else because I don’t know any of them personally.
VYPE: What’s your favorite Moore War memory?
CD: If I had to pick one I’d say my favorite memory from Moore War is from this recent Moore War, just looking back in the student section in the third quarter and hearing how loud everyone is and how hype they were, and they were using a bubble machine so bubbles were everywhere even on the field. It was crazy.
VYPE: What are your future goals outside of football?
CD: I’m still trying to decide what I want to major in and all that so I don’t think I could fully answer that question as of right now.
