VYPE: Syrah, what grade are you in this season and how long have you played golf?
Javed: I am in 12th grade, and I’ve been playing golf since I was in 8th grade.
VYPE: What do you love most about being a student-athlete at Norman North High School?
Javed: The thing I love most about being a student-athlete for Norman North is being surrounded by great people and having lots of support.
VYPE: How does the golf team look as the season gets into full swing?
Javed: The team is looking great this year; I think we have a good chance to take state this year. These girls are just the best.
VYPE: What do you love about this team and your teammates?
Javed: The thing I love most about my teammates is our team chemistry and how we can cheer each other up and challenge each other to do better.
VYPE: Are you involved in other activities at school and what are your plans after you graduate?
Javed: I am in the National Honors Society. After I graduate, I hope to play college golf!
VYPE: Who got you started in golf?
Javed: My dad got me started in playing golf. I remember him taking me to the golf course at Westwood and I instantly fell in love with this sport.
VYPE: What’s your favorite club to hit and do you have a favorite course to play?
Javed: My favorite golf club is my putter because I love putting. My favorite course to play is Hot Springs CC, it was a beautiful course, and the community was so welcoming. The course is a challenge but it’s tons of fun to play on.
VYPE: How do you prepare for tournament play?
Javed: How I mentally prepared for a tournament by staying calm and trusting my pre-shot routine.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Javed: In my free time, I like to volunteer my time to different organizations and hang out with my friends and family.
