Character Counts – Westmoore Basketball Player Zach Crum – Presented By PlateLee

An athlete’s success is determined by how much work and effort they are willing to invest in their career. If they are a member of a team, they have to know what they need to do to help their team. Zachary Crum is a senior at Westmoore High School and he says that he knows what to do to be an asset to his basketball team.

“One thing is I have to know what my role is on the team and what I bring to the table,” he said. “A motivation that I have is being able to help my team become better each and everyday.”

Throughout his entire career, Crum has had a few people that have been influential to his development as a person and an athlete.

“My entire family is my biggest role model,” he said. “Everyone is extremely supportive of each other. Another would be coach Ramsey. He was a positive influence on me because he was extremely genuine and motivational.”

Crum says that he is thankful for his teammates and the role they have played in his sports life.

“I have some great teammates,” he stated. “Zach Hays is one of the guys I enjoy working with the most because he is extremely skilled and is a huge challenge to go up against.

Another guy is Gavin Loper. He does all of the little things that are not always flashy.”
Todd Millwee is the head coach of the Westmore basketball team. He says that Crum is a solid member of the team and a strong contributor.

“Zach can do it all on offense,” Millwee said. “He shoots 40% from the three-point line. He also leads the team in field goal percentage and rebounding. He is a slasher that knows how to find the open man or finish with strength.”

Along with playing basketball, Zachary is also a member of the National Honor Society. He says that during his downtime, he likes to keep up with what is going on in his favorite sport.

“My favorite person to follow on social media is Adrian Wojnarowski,” he said. “I love the NBA so following him helps me stay up to date on all of the current news.”
