Basketball player Kadence Ward is a sophomore this season and has spent time playing with both the varsity and the JV team. Last year as a freshman she made the decision to join the FFA chapter at school.
“I heard of the Agriscience class when I was making my schedule for freshman year, after that I started going to more and more FFA related activities with the support of my Advisor Mrs. Styles. She is the one who pushed me to become involved in FFA,” said Ward. “The community in FFA is amazing. The people who you meet in FFA are some of the best people you will ever meet.”
Ward shows livestock and is a member of the quiz bowl team.
“I show a doe (female goat), her name is Matilda. I’m on the Animal science quiz bowl team, and I’m hoping to become a FFA officer next year,” said Ward.
The sophomore said anyone interested in FFA should give it a try.
“Advice I would give kids who are interested in FFA is do it! It will open so many doors for you and you will make lifelong friends. In my opinion FFA is one of the best organizations people can be in,” said Ward.
Throughout her time in school, Ward said her parents have been big influences in her life.
“Someone who’s been there since the beginning is my parents. They have always supported me through all my ups and downs. Someone that I haven’t known as long but has been just as big of an influence is Mrs. Styles, my advisor. She has “volun-told” me to do so many things that I’m so grateful I did,” said Ward.
After she graduates, Ward plans to attend college at either Murray State or Oklahoma State University and become a veterinarian.
