Trey Hartzog is a senior small forward for the Lexington Bulldogs basketball team. He loves the game of basketball and throughout his career, he has put in a lot of work so that he is able to continue to expand his skills and keep getting better. Along with the work have come a fair amount of other things as well.
“It has taken a lot of sacrifices for me to get where I am,” he said. “That and just putting your head down and putting in the work.”
When he steps out on the hardwood with his Bulldogs uniform on, Trey says that there is an amount of pride that goes along with representing his school.
“It means a lot to me to go out and represent a community,” he said. “They have put trust and confidence in me and my teammates this year and we are going to go out and play with heart for our community. We really appreciate the fans that come out and support all Lexington athletes.”
There have been some role models that have made an impact on Hartzog’s life, but he says that his family and friends are the most influential.
“My family and friends are the people that I look up to the most,” he said. “They overcame their own obstacles and still help me with my own.”
Tyler Thetford is the head coach of the Lexington boy’s basketball team. He says that Trey is a hard worker and an outstanding member of the team.
“He has an amazing work ethic,” coach Thetford said. “He is constantly in the gym working on every aspect of his game. Combined with his athleticism and he is a player that is a force on both ends of the court.”
As his final season of high school basketball gets underway, Hartzog is optimistic about it.
“I am excited to play this year with a great coach that has played at the collegiate level and higher,” Trey said. “I think he will help each of us to get better and it will show when we are on the court.”
