Moore Boys Golf Led By Talented Young Core – Presented By Raising Canes

Moore’s varsity boys golf team features a young but improved group from last spring.

“We had a very young, inexperienced team last year with three freshmen and one sophomore,”

Moore head coach Ryan Dukes said. “The guys have all worked hard on their game and have a desire to compete with the top teams in the state.”

Kian Stark, the team’s lone junior, is its veteran leader. “With no seniors on our team, Kian is our most experienced golfer with two years of varsity experience,” Dukes said. “With a lot of young kids on our team, they look to him as the team leader. Kian works very hard at his game and is a good example for our younger guys of the dedication it takes to be a good golfer.”

Freshman Kase Stark is one of those players that has benefited from being around his older brother. “[Kase] has a great all-around game for as young as he is. I have got to see him develop and improve in our junior high program as well as practicing with the high school team with his older brother,” Dukes said. “We are excited to see what the future holds for Kase and expect great things the next several years.”

Preston Baker, a sophomore, is the team’s unsung hero. Dukes said Baker has “worked harder than anyone on his game over the past year.”

“We had a good group of freshmen last year that really enjoyed playing, practicing and being at the golf course together,” Dukes said. “Those guys pushing each other and competing with each other to get better is making our team better. Preston was a little behind the other guys last year, but that is not the case this year.”
