Moore High School sophomore Kynzlee Birchett is highly passionate about cheerleading.
Birchett cheers for Moore High School’s football team, basketball team and wrestling team. Kynzlee has also been an all-star cheerleader at Tribe Cheer for many years. Her introduction to cheerleading for school started in junior high.
“I am currently in my second year of high school cheer, (both years on the Varsity team),” Birchett said.
When asked what she enjoys most about cheerleading, Kynzlee said: “It is hard to narrow down my ‘favorite’ part of cheer. I love the sideline and getting the crowd involved as we cheer on our athletes. I love the pep assemblies and getting our student sections pumped up for the games. Since I am such a competitive person, I love competing at Regionals, State, Gameday State, and NCA Nationals. I am a flyer at both school and all-star cheer. I love flying and baskets. But I really love tumbling and learning new skills.”
The 2022-2023 cheerleading season is shaping up to be the best year thus far for Kynzlee.
“I cheered at Moore High School where we won the NCA Championship. I was on two All-Star Teams, the Chiefs and Voodoo and was chosen to fill in on another All-Star team ‘Smoke’ for the end of the year competition.”
Kynzlee has multiple mentors she gives credit to for inspiring her. “I have been so lucky to have many amazing Coaches throughout the last 10 years of cheering to look up to. I owe a big thank you to Coach James Forman and Coach Jenn Minor for ensuring my tumbling has the proper technique and pushing me to be an awesome Elite Level six tumbler. This is my third year on a
level six world’s team at Tribe (team ‘Voodoo’) with numerous coaches that help me to do my best, that I look up to coach and gym owner David Urmie, Lindsay Driskill, Ozzie Montez, and Autumn Garza.”
When asked what her favorite subjects are, Kynzlee said, “I think my favorite subjects would have to be English because I love creating stories and Latin because it is awesome to know a foreign language and see how it relates to the English language.”
