Moore Fast-Pitch Softball Preview – Presented by RPT Physical Therapy

The Moore Lady Lions have a strong softball program under head coach Stephanie Riley. In 2021 the Lions posted a great 24-9 record but just missed out on the Class 6A playoffs. This year the Lady Lions return several players back to the field and are looking for a shot at redemption and a chance to make a run deep into the postseason.

The Lady Lions are led by VYPE Top 100 nominee Nichelle Marshall (3B, C, Jr.). Marshall knows that hard work pays off and has been working in the offseason to improve all aspects of her game. She excels in multiple roles on defense, has a great arm, and has a solid swing at the plate.

Heading into her junior year Marshall is looking toward the future with aspirations of playing at the collegiate level. Emiaj Self (SS) excels on and off the field as a leader for the Lady Lions. Self is a straight A student at MHS and attends additional classes at the Moore Norman Technology Campus. Self has already committed to play college ball at the Colorado School of Mines and looks to have a great campaign this fall.

Maddyson Wiser (P) is a force on the pitching mound, as well as at the plate. “She strives to be her best in all that she does,” Riley said. “She is a straight A student and an amazing mentor and teammate.” Speedster Libby Jaques (So.) is a three-sport athlete in softball, basketball, and track. Jaques always contributes to her team and can show off her speed running bases and has great power at the plate. Another key contributor, Haley Kruger, has been with the Lady Lions softball program since junior high and exemplifies how Moore coaches develop their players from the seventh to twelfth grade.

Also look for Makenzie Wilson (Jr.) and Ally Gossett to make an impact on the field. Riley and the Lady Lions look forward to competing this fall and making a run into the 6A playoffs. They return a good mix of players this year and have high expectations for the season.
