Moore High School’s Brooklyn McLearen- Cheer Spotlight-Presented by Eskridge Honda

Brooklyn McLearen has been a competitive cheerleader her entire life. Entering high school, she was drawn to pom and took a leap of faith trying out for the Moore High School pom team. “After many lessons with dance teachers and hours of practicing, I made the team my freshman year,” she says, “fast forward to my senior year I am now a co-captain on the varsity pom squad!”

Her favorite memory of MHS pom is winning their first national championship her junior year and making a follow-up performance to reclaim the title her senior year.

“A coach once told me doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will. This stuck with me for as long as I can remember. I had this quote hanging on my wall every day to remind me to never give up,” she said.

Engaging in sports has helped Brooklyn develop valuable life skills like discipline, resilience, and teamwork. “The challenges and victories I experience in sports have taught me the value of hard work and perseverance. The lessons I’ve learned through my sport, such as goal setting, time management, and sportsmanship, have helped me to overcome obstacles and achieve success,” said Brooklyn.

Brooklyn’s favorite part of being on a team are the friendships and lifelong memories. “I am passionate about pom because it has allowed me to express myself and my feelings in a way I couldn’t do before.

“Representing my school as an athlete fills me with pride and a sense of belonging. I am able to showcase my skills and dedication to my school community. It is an honor to wear a Moore uniform and allows me to show sportsmanship among my teammates and peers,” she said.

Brooklyn is inspired by many people in her life. “My teammate Lourdyn has been a huge support system for me. I know I can always count on her. She inspires me to be a better leader and teammate.

“My papa, Gary Rhoads, inspires me every day. My papa is the first person I call if I need something and is the strongest man I know. He is a type one diabetic and has battled this disease his whole life, but you can always count on him for a smile. I’ve always looked up to my papa and couldn’t imagine life without him.

“My mom has always been my number one fan, cheering me on and supporting me in all my endeavors with unwavering love and encouragement. She is someone I’ve always looked up to, admiring her strength, resilience, and dedication to my family. Her belief in me has been a constant source of inspiration, motivating me to strive for success and pursue my dreams. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without her. I love you!” exclaims Brooklyn.

In addition to pom, Brooklyn participates in NHS, Moore Love, Leadership, and the Student Athletic Panel. Until this year she was also involved in All-Star Cheerleading.
