Moore’s CJ Simon Athlete Spotlight Presented by Faded Canvas

By Jayden Oyler
CJ Simon, an 11th grader at Moore High School, is a student-athlete who has made a significant
impact on and off the field. With a passion for both football and track, Simon’s journey is
marked by memorable moments and invaluable life lessons.
Simon’s journey in football had an extraordinary start as a freshman when he scored his first
varsity touchdown. He reflects on this memory, stating, “One memory I will never forget is my
first varsity touchdown as a freshman.”

For Simon, football has been more than just a sport; it’s been a teacher of resilience. He shares
a valuable lesson: “One thing football taught me is there’s always going to be adversity; it’s
about how you react.”
In Simon’s academic journey, one teacher stands out – Ms. Leach, his 5th-grade teacher. She
instilled in him the belief that he can achieve anything he sets his mind to. He reflects on her
guidance, saying, “She taught me that I can do anything I put my mind to; it’s all about my
mindset.”
His dad is a point of inspiration, and he admires his father’s work ethic, describing it as amazing.
“He wakes up every day and goes to work and doesn’t complain about anything,” Simon shared.
Team sports foster camaraderie and inspire individuals to push their limits. Simon finds
motivation from his quarterback, who pushes him in the weight room, demonstrating how
teammates can uplift each other.
Simon emphasizes the community aspect of high school sports, stating, “One thing with playing
high school sports is it’s like you have the whole community behind you.”
One piece of advice has stuck with Simon is, “Surround yourself with amazing people who want
the same in life.”
Simon’s involvement in leadership for his school speaks to his commitment to making a positive
impact in his community. He extends gratitude to his family, including his mom, dad, two
sisters, and big brother, for their unwavering support throughout his journey. Simon also
appreciates everyone who has stood by his side during the challenging times, highlighting the
importance of a strong support system in achieving success.
