Noble Bears 2023 Football Team Preview – Presented by Sun & Ski Sports

NOBLE BEARS

Coach: GREG GEORGE

5-5

OFFENSE

Despite having a few younger players in the starting lineup, the Bears of Noble High School should be a competitive team this season if they can stay healthy and fight through a tough schedule. “Going to be young in some spots. Need to get better each week thru fall camp and the first three games before we start district play. Have a lot of questions that need answered in those first six weeks,” said coach George. Logan Kirby (5-10, 160, Sr.) is a VYPE Top 100 nominee and a starter at wide receiver. Bryson Carey (5-9, 155, Jr.) and Connor Lane (5-10, 165, Jr.) join Kirby in the receiving corps. The Bears will run a spread offense utilizing their speed and the position. Finding a quarterback is a top priority. Trevor Hand (6-0, 215, Sr.) will start at center with Jordan Hensley (6-0, 275, Jr.) at guard. The pair will make it tough for opposing defenses to get to the quarterback. One player to watch is Joey Bear (6-0, 160, Sr.) who can be used in various ways including WR and running back. “We will play to our offensive strengths. That maybe four wide or with a tight end. We will throw the ball around and let our skill guys make plays,” said coach George.

DEFENSE

The defense returns four starters this season including Jordan Hand who will start at linebacker for the Bears. Hand is a throwback type player who gives 100 percent on every down. Andrew Holmes (6-1, 185, So.) started midway through the season as a freshman last year. Holmes is a heady player with tremendous physical attributes. Seth Scruggs (6-1, 220, Sr.) will start at defensive end alongside Mason Crawford (6-1, 210, Sr.). The pair will bookend the defensive line and put pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Another player to watch on the Bear’s defense is safety Jordan Peterman (5-8, 165, Jr.). Peterman will play an important role in the 4-2-5 scheme the Bears will utilize this season. “Try to get lined up and play smart football. Make a team drive the field. This year will see us take more chances with pressures because of our size. Will always have to be moving on defense,” said coach George. The coaching staff consists of Tyler Solomon, Kyle Davidson, Ray Crawley, Keith Treat, Eric Hughes, Tommy Hand, Scott Ward, and Scott Milette.
