Jack Lindley
Norman North Cross Country
Jack Lindley of Norman North High School grew up playing soccer, but an event in the elementary school would change his athletic path for good.
“I grew up playing soccer, but after breaking the fifth-grade school record in the mile, I decided to transition into cross country and track,” said Lindley.
Now a senior at NNHS, Lindley said being part of the cross-country team has been great and he is looking forward to competing at the state competition.
“I’m looking forward to our team’s chance to qualify for the state meet again. Individually, I’m very excited about the opportunity to potentially earn All-State Honors for the second year in a row. I love how supportive this team is of one another. Whether someone runs the best race of their life, or has an off day, they will always receive support and encouragement from this team. Jonah Hays and Jack Ramon are improving at a drastic rate. They will definitely be able to help our team out immensely come Regionals,” said Lindley.
As a student-athlete, Lindley said Norman North is a great place to be both.
“The teachers at Norman North are very understanding and supportive of student-athletes. Most of them will organize their weekly schedule in a way that allows us to succeed in the classroom and in competition. Ms. Keenan’s anatomy and physiology course is by far my favorite class,” said Lindley.
Lindley said most of the team has competed with one another since the sixth grade. As for the Class of 2024?
“I want my class to be remembered for our leadership. We want to lead by example this year and help the next classes become just as successful as we have been,” said Lindley.
The senior is a member of National Honor Society and enjoys the volunteer opportunities to help make the school a better place. Next year, Lindley plans to attend college to study Biomedical Sciences while staying on a Pre-Med track.
