Norman’s Gabrielle Lee Athlete Spotlight Presented by David Ritter Shelter Insurance

Gabrielle Lee is a junior at Norman High School. As an athlete, she has a number of people that have had an impact on her life and helped shape her into the person that she is today. Out of all of them, she says that there is one that really stands out.

“The biggest influence or role model for me is Kesha Watson,” Lee said. “She has the champion mindset and that is something that I really look up to.”

Lee is a member of the basketball and track teams at Norman. She says that being successful is not just something that happens, but there is a lot that you have to do to be able to reach that.

“In order to be successful, you have to have a great mindset,” she said. “You also have to be dedicated and make some sacrifices. My team and the champion mindset keeps me motivated to want to be the best.”

As a student in the classroom, Lee has learned from a number of different teachers. But she says one teacher stands out and his influence has made a difference.
“Mrs.Shaw has had an impact on my life because she’s taught me many things throughout my high school years.”

Whenever she steps out on the court to compete alongside her teammates, Gabrielle knows that she has a solid group around her.

“I appreciate everyone on the team,” she said. “I enjoy working with my teammate Ady Hybl the most. She always makes everyone work harder.”

Wearing the Norman uniform is something that Gabrielle does not take lightly. She says that she is proud to be part of this team.

“It means a lot to have an opportunity to represent my school and community,” she said. “It is nice to know you’re a part of an amazing program.”

There are a number of things that Lee enjoys about being an athlete. She says that beating her school’s rivals is always fun. She also likes the interest she receives from colleges about the potential to play at the next level.
