Norman’s Rylan Schucman – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Vision Bank

Rylan Schucman

Norman High School

In his final season of prep baseball with the Norman High School Tigers, senior Rylan Schucman is taking the time to absorb and enjoy his final games as a Tiger. For Rylan, the relationships he’s built with his teammates will last a lifetime.

“What I love most about being a student-athlete at NHS is the community and relationships it brings. Everyone at Norman High is here to support us, and they all make it feel like a family,” said Schucman.

Schucman has played baseball for as long as he can remember. The work to stay on top of his game and help his team win.

“My offense game has gotten better. I’m able to hit for contact more instead of trying to bunt for my base hits,” said Schucman.

The same goes for his teammates. At the time of this article the Tigers are 10-5 are playing some good baseball. Schucman said the team chemistry is great and the focus is on making plays and winning games.
“What I love about my teammates is how close we are as a team. Everyone on this team bonded ever since we met each other. We have all played together since we were young,” said Schucman. “Our team is looking really strong, and we are starting to come together and clean up our defensive mistakes.”

Away from the diamond, Schucman said he is a student section leader for the NHS Crazies, but Schucman is turning some of his attention to life after high school.

“I plan on going to Oklahoma State University and get a degree in Physical Therapy,” said Schucman.

Schucman said his favorite memory on the field came when his team tossed a no-hitter against crosstown rival Norman North. If this team can put a run together as we enter into the second half of the season, his favorite memory could change to what they accomplished in his senior season.
