Jessamy Wright
Southmoore Mom of the Month
With three kids in the Southmoore Public School system, Jessamy Wright has very little time for anything else.
Older daughter Jessie is a junior at Southmoore High School and a member of the varsity soccer team. Son Joshua is in the 8th grade at Highland West Junior High, and her youngest Jerra is a 6th grader at Southgate Elementary.
“I love watching sports and supporting kids doing what they love, but it’s helped me spend more time with my oldest daughter,” said Wright.
Currently serving as the treasurer for the Southmoore Girl’s Booster Club, Wright said she feels it’s important for parents to be involved with their kids’ activities.
“Kids need to know they have their parents support on and off the field or court. They could be having a tough game, but then hear their parents’ encouragement, and it could be all they need to push harder,” said Wright.
Booster clubs depend on parents to step up and help the team with various activities and functions. Wright said there are plenty of people to thank for helping all of the teams at SHS.
“Dave and Kelly Scheurch. They’re at every game for their girls and always bring a positive environment. Dave is the JV women’s soccer coach,” said Wright.
A graduate of Ozark High School in Missouri, Wright also spent her early years of high school at Glendale HS in Springfield, but Southmoore is where she wants her kids to grow up.
“Southmoore High School is the best,” said Wright.
