Is it possible for a volleyball team to have a wrestling team mentality? To be tough and fearless? That’s pretty close to what you get with the Lady Sabercats of Southmoore High School. Head coach Amy Williamson believes her team has what it takes to take down a tough schedule in 2022.
“We have a good mix of varsity returners as well as some fresh new talent. Our experienced players will be vital to showing our talented underclassmen the ropes. This group is hard working, driven, and competitive,” said coach Williamson.
A player that needs no introduction is outside hitter Abby Cowell. Cowell is a senior this season and has shown the ability to be a true leader on and off the court.
“Her passion for the game reflects in the way she plays,” said coach Williamson.
She is a smart, powerful, and competitive player who wants to help this team win.
Zya Greenfield is built in the same mold as Cowell. Greenfield is a senior this year and a defensive specialist for the Lady Cats.
“She is an incredible defensive player who leads our team through her actions. She is a calming presence on the floor, and she encompasses what it means to be a Southmoore volleyball player,” said coach Williamson.
One underclassman to watch this season is Jadyn Suthers. Suthers will play an important role with the team this season as she looks to solidify herself as a dependable player on the court. Also look for Brilyn Ross, Ava Garceau, and Taylor Dorman this season.
