VYPE caught up with Southmoore soccer’s Kaden Locke to help you get to know him a little better.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
Kaden: I love the soccer program at Southmoore High School. I feel that wearing the Southmoore soccer crest on my chest when I play is not only an honor but a privilege. The Southmoore soccer program is second to none.
VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?
Kaden: Raphinha Dias Belloni, also known as “Raphinha”. I admire his flair, creativity, and hunger on the pitch.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Kaden: Soccer has taught me to overcome obstacles that come my way, daily, and to bounce back off of them. It has also taught me to put maximum effort and pride into everything I do.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Kaden: I have been told by many that my potential is unmatched and that I am very blessed with the abilities I have. I know that some people would do anything for my natural abilities. So, I need the heart to go with it. If I have both I can do whatever I please. I have been told to never be complacent in any situation I’m in and to always strive to be the best at everything I do. These words leave an everlasting impact on me and give me a sense of confidence in order to dominate and never settle for something beneath my potential.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Kaden: My great-grandfather is my “Why”, he is who I do it for. He told me shortly before he passed away that I was going to be the one to put our family on “Easy Street.” Meaning, I was meant to do something special and that our family will have it easy.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a Summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Kaden: I would go to Puerto Rico to see my family’s heritage. I would take my whole family with me.
VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?
Kaden: My favorite memory of playing soccer was playing for the ID2 U.S. National team. I attended two major camps for this identification process. I competed and played among the best players in the country.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?
Kaden: I’m passionate about soccer because I love the game. It is a way to make a name for myself while doing something I’m good at and love. Soccer does take up most of my free time. I have sacrificed a lot of childhood activities to get where I’m at but would not change it for the world.
