Brylee Fanning is a senior at Southmoore High School.

Sports have been a part of her life for a while and she currently plays middle infield and catcher for the SaberCats. Throughout her life, she has had a number of people that have been influential to her life, but she says that there are a few that have made a bigger impact.

“My mom and dad are the biggest role models in my life,” she said. “I look up to them because of how hardworking they are and how they are always there for the family. I have also had several teachers that have played a big part in my life. They spent more time with me when I was struggling with something.”

Becoming the player that she is today has not been easy, it has required a lot of hard work and perseverance.

“In order to be successful, you have to be willing to put in the hard work outside of practice and be dedicated to your sport,” she said. “I want to always be better than I was the day before.”

Fanning has made a lot of memories with her teammates on and off the field. But she says that there are some memories that stand out for her.

“My freshman year, we were down by one in the first round of state and I hit a home run to tie it up,” she
recalled. “Then we went on and won state. That would have to be the highlight moment of my career so far. Also, anytime we beat Moore or Westmoore is great too. Mainly because they are our rival schools.”

Southmoore head softball coach, Jason Lingo, says that Fanning is a talented player that has already staked her spot at the next level.

“Brylee is a four year starter all across the infield for us,” he said. “She is an outstanding athlete that will play at Northeastern State University next season.”
