Southmoore’s Christina Hayes – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Christian Brothers Automotive

Christina Hayes
Southmoore Mom of the Month
Christina Hayes is the mother two student-athletes and a volunteer at Southmoore High School.

Oldest son, Jacob, graduated in 2023 and was a baseball player for the SaberCats. Daughter Mallory is a sophomore and a member of the varsity volleyball team. Christina currently serves as the booster club treasurer for the volleyball team.

“I manage the booster club funds and keep the financial records of all that comes in and goes out. I also work together with the other officers to stock the concession stand, feed the team at home and away games, coordinate hosted tournaments and plan the end of year banquet,” Christina said. “I do it all for my kids. That’s where I get my joy. I’ve enjoyed being involved in all their activities through the years because being a present parent is important to me. I have volunteered at their schools since they were in elementary. From PTA to PTSA and now booster. My son graduated last year, and I was a part of the Southmoore Sabercats Home Run Club the four years he was at Southmoore. Now I’m continuing that for my daughter with the SHS Volleyball Booster Club.”

Christina said she feels it is important for parents to get involved.

“Being present in your kids’ lives and activities is important for many reasons. It creates a supportive and encouraging environment that fosters personal growth and confidence. A present parent plays a pivotal role in either positively shaping their child’s experience or negatively influencing them. Positive involvement is key. Most importantly it shows that you care and love them,” said Christina.

A graduate of Western Heights, Christina said she has enjoyed having her kids in the Moore Public School system.

“MPS is a much larger school district than I grew up in, but I do like that Southmoore is the smaller of the three high schools. My favorite thing about MPS is their community involvement through the Moore Love fundraiser. It encourages the MPS community to “unite as one fundraising powerhouse” to collect money for local nonprofits and has been very successful. I believe that giving and helping others is very important and I’m proud to be part of a school district that does just that. “…for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7,” said Christina.

Away from school and sports, you can usually find the Hayes family spending time together and enjoying many different activities.

“We always try to make an effort to spend time together with our busy schedules. Whether it’s watching a movie, going to church together or sitting down at the dinner table to eat. We also enjoy going to the lake in the summertime and always plan at least two family vacations a year. Snow skiing and the beach,” said Christina.
