Southmoore High School’s Kandace Burnett is a sophomore and a member of the varsity softball team. Burnett said softball has been her favorite sport for as long as she can remember.
“Softball has always been my favorite. From the age of five until now, there has only ever been softball,” said Burnett.
Also serving as a sophomore class representative and a member of the Art Club, Burnett said there are many things about being a student-athlete at Southmoore that she loves.
“Southmoore is a great place to be a student athlete because the coaches are amazing. They are always there to help you get better. My favorite subject is algebra 2 and my favorite teacher is Mrs. Hannamen,” said Burnett.
As for the team, Burnett said she loves playing with this group and the connection they share.
“I love how well we are connected. We consider each other our friends. I enjoy the players and the type of competition we face since we are in 6A. I’m excited for regionals next week and potentially state,” said Burnett.
The sophomore said everyone should watch her teammates, Brylee Fanning and Lainey King as the team makes a push for state.
Burnett said she would love to study History in college once her playing days at Southmoore come to an end.
