Westmoore freshman golf standout Jordan Masters found his passion for the sport while playing Top Golf.
“My grandfather also loves golf, and once he gifted me with my first set of clubs, there was no turning back,” Masters said
With a name to fit his talent, Masters is potentially Westmoore’s most promising underclassman.
“Jordan is a freshman this year. He works hard on his game putting in the extra hours needed to improve his scoring and consistency,” Westmoore head coach Bobby Brock said.
On average, Masters spends about 10-12 additional hours on the course every week.
That’s on top of his typical practice schedule and tournaments.
“I love to golf,” Masters said. “It doesn’t feel like work when you love what you do.”
To maintain the fitness necessary to execute a schedule that might intimidate others, Masters takes to his second talent, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. He’s a yellow belt.
“My older brother is a fan of MMA and introduced me to BJJ. He’s a huge supporter of mine and also attends all of my tournaments,” Masters said. MJJ is great for strength and conditioning, which helps me keep me in my best shape.
Through sports, Masters has learned “self-discipline, staying calm under pressure and never giving up.”
“I look forward to learning even more and improving my game,” Masters said. “I am thankful for the support of my family and school to be able to play the game I love so much.”
Masters also attends Victory Family Church and enjoys playing video games and his family game nights.
