Every athlete that competes at any level wants to be successful. No matter what sport they play, they strive to be at the top of their game when they compete. Dax Mccaskill says that the success he has enjoyed has been because of the work he has put in as well as those that he has surrounded himself with.
“I contribute my success in baseball so far to a combination of a strong work ethic, mental toughness and psychical skill,” he said. “The ability to adapt to different game situations, learn from failures, and stay disciplined in my training has been crucial. I’ve been fortunate to have so many great coaches over the years but the biggest influence and role model in my baseball career has been my Papa Don. His knowledge of the game and his constant positive mindset has been an incredible inspiration to me.”
Dax is a senior at Washington High School, where he plays first base, third base, and outfield for the baseball team. He is also a member of the school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National Honor Society.
The teammates that he competes alongside is a group that Mccaskill is thankful for. He says that they have helped him grow as an athlete and there is one teammate that he enjoys going up against in practice.
“I enjoy working against Marlon Moore the most in practice,” Dax said. “He’s not only an incredible player, but he also pushes me to perform at my best. We push each other to elevate our game. As a baseball player, I am motivated by competition and contributing to my teams success.”
During his time playing baseball, there have been some exciting moments for Dax. But he has one moment that stands out as his favorite.
“The highlight of my career would have to be when I hit a walkoff homerun to end the 2022 state championship game,” he recalled. “It was a great feeling and an exciting time to share with my teammates.”
