Westmoore slowpitch preview – Presented by Chris’ Express Drug

Westmoore’s slow pitch team will rely on a talented core of versatile players this season.

“I also see great offensive potential — maybe not always the home run ball, but consistent base-hitters that will hopefully produce several runs,” Westmoore head coach Hillary Weaver said. “We are quick, athletic and strong, which I believe will also play in our favor. The girls have great team chemistry, enjoy being around each other and enjoy playing the game which makes them fun to watch.”

Kylah Daniel, a dynamic junior infielder, has improved her physical strength to give her bat “so much more pop” and her arm more power.

“Not only has she [Daniel] experienced physical growth and change over the years, but she has gained this unique confidence in herself and has grown into a positive role model and vocal leader for her teammates to follow,” Weaver said. “She leads by example and never asks her teammates to do something she isn’t willing to do herself.”

Sophomore infielder Jordyn Moody will contribute in big ways for the Jaguars. Weaver likes her versatility.

“She [Moody] has a good glove, can contribute pretty much anywhere in the infield and has a great arm to go with her smooth glove work,” Weaver said. “Not only is she impressive in the field, but she can also contribute offensively with lots of power and pop from the plate. She is a student of the game and is determined to work at any skill, on or off the field, until she gets it right.”
