For Dadreanna Frost, basketball is more than just a game. Through this sport she has
learned communication skills and built bonds within her team that go beyond the court.
She is passionate about the discipline and teamwork she gets from basketball.
Dadreanna is a junior at Westmoore High School. She is proud to represent her school.
“It shows that I’m really making a difference for my school, because you don’t really see
a lot of students being recognized at Westmoore.”
The best memories she has of playing basketball at Westmoore are from the ‘Moore
War’ because it is such a big rivalry game.
She does not pick one teammate to stand out above the rest. Dadreanna says ALL of
them have left a lasting impression. “They are very supportive even when I feel down.”
Dadreanna looks up to professional basketball player Kyrie Irving. “No matter what
negative things people say about him he continues to play hard no matter what,” she
said.
It takes a strong person to deal with negativity. Dadreanna says the best advice given to
her is to remember that, “not everyone is your friend.”
When asked about a favorite teacher Dadreanna replied, “I don’t have one, but all of
them were very good to me.”
Family plays a big part in her love of basketball. “When I was four I got into it because it
was really a family thing and I just wanted to play because I saw all of them playing,”
she said. “My brother motivates me to work hard and be better than other people.”
Dadreanna is most thankful to her grandma for spending her time and money on her.
“Without her I wouldn’t be where I’m at today,” she says.
For a vacation location she wants to go to Jamaica. “I would take my aunts and brother
because they are funny and fun to be around.”
