Westmoore’s London Porter – Soccer Spotlight – Presented by RibCrib

While competition is always part of the game, soccer means more than that to Westmoore High School senior, London Porter. “I am passionate about soccer because it is always there if I need it. If I have a lot going on or am in a bad mood, I can always get my cleats on and grab a ball,” she says.

Soccer teaches London focus, drive and most importantly how to have compassion for herself when she makes mistakes. The best advice she has been given is to keep trying no matter what. “Everyone makes mistakes, and that is okay. It is what you do after the mistake that makes all the difference,” she recalls.

London loves the atmosphere and positivity of being surrounded by teammates. “Having your best friends lift you up is my favorite part about being part of a team,” says London.

Teammates like Jaycie Daggs leave a strong impression. “She is such a humble, focused, caring person and player. She is there to motivate me when I need it, and she holds me accountable. She has every good characteristic you would want in an athlete,” said London.

Her favorite memory of playing soccer was last year scoring a goal against Edmond Santa Fe. “It was in the first 30 seconds of the game and my whole team sprinted over to celebrate that achievement with me,” she said.

London values her family. “When I was six-years-old I signed up for soccer at South Lakes Soccer Club. My dad, older sister, and older brother had all played, and I wanted to be like them. My four siblings all inspire me in different ways, but mostly how to enjoy life and the little moments. They are a big support system for me.

“I would like to say thank you to my parents for always supporting me and taking me to practices, games, and out-of-state tournaments. You both did a lot to help me become the player I am, and I am forever grateful,” she said.

London is proud to represent her school. “I love being a Westmoore Jaguar!” she exclaims.
