Westmoore’s Tracey Chavez – Mom of the Month – Presented by Christian Brothers Automotive

Westmoore Mom of the Month
Tracey Chavez
A 1996 graduate from Westmoore High School, Tracey Chavez is the mother of three students in the Westmoore Public Schools system and a graduate from the class of 2022.

Oldest son Zane is a sophomore in college, daughter Ana is a junior on the varsity volleyball team, son Braxton is an eighth grader and plays football, basketball, tennis, golf and baseball and youngest son Bentley plays baseball. Saying Tracey is busy is a understatement.

“Currently, I am the president of the Westmoore Volleyball Side Out Booster Club and the Team Mom for Moore West Football in which I arrange food for the players to eat on game day for both teams. I coordinate with parents for food pick up, head up fundraisers, organize events such as concessions for tournaments, hospitality rooms, pink out, senior night, and banquet. I work with the Booster Board and parents to organize all these events and see them from start to finish. Really none of this is possible without the support of the parents. I work very closely with my current booster board, Summer Day and Mendi Landgraf, to accomplish all we do for Westmoore Volleyball. I definitely can’t do it alone and am so grateful for these ladies and the support,” said Tracey.

Tracey said serving the community is a passion.

“Having a servant’s heart is a gift that was not only given to me by God but instilled to me by my parents at an early age. So volunteering is something that comes very natural to me for and is a way for me to get back to my kids and their friends in whatever activity they take interest. It’s a way for me to not only interact with the parents but interact with the players and get to know who my kids are hanging out with on a day-to-day basis,” Tracey said. “For me having a kid who has already completed high school, having one there and then having younger ones coming up I can’t imagine not being involved. My kids love seeing me and my husband and their grandparents, aunts and uncles supporting them in their activities. There are some pretty tough life lessons our kids learn along the way, and they need their parents there to guide and support them. It’s great to be there for the victories but it’s just important to be there for the losses. That’s when they need us the most.”

A graduate from WHS herself, Tracey said the environment at Westmoore is what makes it a great place to be a student.

“The thing I like most about the school system is that they are constantly learning and evolving to try to create the best and safest environment for their students and student athletes, as they possibly can.” Away from school, the Chavez family enjoys being on the move.

“We are not much for sitting still! Every now and again, we might have a lazy day, but for the most part, we are usually out and about! In our free time, we play golf, pickle ball, and just recently I finished up a season down at the Oklahoma River Sport on a rowing team for the Daily Oklahoman. We also enjoy going to the movies and watching Plainview High School football on Friday nights, where my nephew plays,” said Tracey.
