There are times in each of our lives when we hit a bump in the road or a rough patch. There are two ways we can react; we can give up or we can work through it. Athletes like Faith Street are no different.
“As I look back on the last seven years as a CCS cheerleader, I remember both my challenges and successes. In tenth grade, I was accidentally dropped by my stunt group. This required surgery and months of rigorous physical therapy to get back to competing and cheering with my team. Not long after I was back doing what I love, in March 2021, I tore my hip labrum and underwent surgery and physical therapy once again. Although these were devastating and difficult injuries, they allowed me time to focus on being a good captain and leader for my team and also demonstrated to others that in times of adversity, we do not have to give up on our goals. These setbacks ultimately prepared me for even bigger comebacks. This year, I was able to compete in both the game day state and national competition with my team where we placed as the state runner-up. I am forever grateful that during my time on CCS cheer I was named as the Captain, represented my school as an NCA All-American, won a state championship title with my team, and won the NCA Spirit Award. These accomplishments, along with the countless memories I have made with my friends, have made all of the hard work and dedication worth it. I give God all the glory!”
Throughout her life Street has had people impact her life, but she says that a former teammate is someone she looks up to the most.
“Jessica Cortez is one of my biggest role models,” she said. “She is on the stunt team and is a freshman at OCU. Jessica is a great leader. I cheered with her for six years. She does her best in everything and gives the glory to God.”
There have been a lot of memorable moments that Faith has experienced, along with being the Varsity Cheer Captain, she has been a flyer and base for her team and cheered competitively for two years. Faith was also selected by the students and teachers at her school as Miss CCS. She is also a member of Key Club/ROC and student council.
“Winning state during 2021 and freshman year at NCA would be my top memories,” she said. “We went on the mat as a family, with our best skills and gave it our all.”
