Sebastian Perry is the player to watch this basketball season. The Heritage Hall senior is a talented point guard who has been playing basketball since he was three years old.
Basketball has made a large impact on Perry’s life, and much of his success can be accredited to his father, who coached him from ages three to 16.
“I love the game of basketball and the feeling that comes with playing. It was something I fell in love with at a young age and I started taking it seriously around 3rd grade. It’s always been something I have known will be there for me and I love stepping on the court and working on my game. From a young age I would watch Stephen Curry and go outside and practice his moves. Now I study Damian Lillard a lot and try to practice his moves. I’ve played It for almost 15 years now and the passion and love for my game grows each year.”
Growing up participating in a sport he admires so much has led Sebastian to learn many valuable lessons along the way. When asked what the biggest lesson he has learned from basketball, Perry said “perseverance.”
“I have dealt with some injuries that made me miss some time from the game, but through it all, I persevered and prevailed. Even when things get hard it taught me that if you put your head down and work you will still succeed in many ways. It also built my leadership skills and communication skills, being able to speak to a team and know they respect and listens to you, but you have the same respect towards them goes a long way. Being able to communicate in life is huge!”
As Sebastian Perry finishes out his senior season, he will continue to work hard on and off the court to lead his team to success.
