John Marshall Boy’s Bears Basketball team Preview – Presented By Rhonda Littleton of Shelter Insurance

BOYS

Coach: Patrick Cudjoe

20-21 Record: 16-7

The John Marshall Bears made it to the Area Tournament last season and are hoping to get back this season. Entering his sixth season at the helm of the boy’s basketball team, Patrick Cudjoe says that while his team may have not racked up a lot of playing time, they are hard workers, and he is ready to see what they can do on the court. “This year’s team has minimal varsity experience,” Cudjoe said. “But they will compete hard, and I think that we will see a lot of improvement over the season.” Elijah Goldsmith (6-0, Sr.) is a strong defender with a really good pull up jump shot. He also has a tremendous work ethic and looks to have a solid season. Senior guard Daquaylyn Mitchell (6-3, Sr.) is a great slasher and finisher and is a tough defender. He will be called on to fill various roles on the floor.

Another key player this season will be Derrick Lawrence (6-2, Jr.), who is an elite ball handler and passer. He will also be a tough matchup one on one. Alontae Hennesy (5-10, Sr.) excels at sinking pullup jump shots and he is a quick ball handler. Damarion Turner is quick and competitive and looks to have a big season.
