SNU Sports Management: Putnam City’s Lance Cotter – Presented By Southern Nazarene University – Sports Management

Lance Cotter has gotten the most out of the Southern Nazarene University Sports Management program.

Cotter, who played baseball at SNU and graduated from Putnam City High School in 2016, is currently a physical therapy technician at a clinic in midtown/downtown Oklahoma City.

“I chose to attend SNU’s Master of Sports management program due to the closeness of SNU’s campus in relation to my current place of residence, and because of my previous experiences with the SNU staff, which is something that resulted from the completion of my bachelors degree in May of 2021,” Cotter said.

Cotter wants a future working within the Oklahoma City Thunder or Oklahoma City Dodgers organizations.

“This degree will aid me in my future occupation as I plan on applying to jobs within both the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Oklahoma City Dodgers organizations,” he said.

Cotter’s experience with the program has led to a surprise.

“One of the things that surprised me most about this program is how much my perspective on sporting events has changed,” he said. “In the business of sports, there are a lot of unseen parts that go into putting on a sporting event, and many of those parts remain unseen and unrecognized throughout the course of each event.”

Cotter, who most enjoyed the interactions he had with fellow students and professors during this time as a student at SNU, feels that SNU sets itself apart.

“One piece of advice I would give to others who are considering the continuation of their education at SNU, is that SNU is a unique place in its ability to provide the quality of education and experience you would receive at any of the big division one schools, while also providing the much needed attention of your professors similar to what would be at a smaller college,” he said. “In addition to this, if you have a passion or interest, I am of the belief that you are never too old to continue your education and pave your own path towards a job that you truly enjoy.”
