9Qs with Edmond North Golfer Ben McKee
VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing golf?
Ben: I started playing in 8th grade. I was tired of playing baseball and always loved playing golf so I tried it out and stuck with it.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about golf?
Ben: Golf is a beautiful sport that beats down on you and makes you think about every little thing you do. The mental process and having a good mental game separates the good golfers from the great golfers. That makes me passionate to be the best player I can be.
VYPE: What has golf taught you that you use in your daily life?
Ben: That you can’t dwell on past mistakes. You always have to move on to the next task or shot.
VYPE: What professional athlete do you look up to?
Ben: Tiger Woods. He is the greatest golfer ever and worked hard for everything he did.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Ben: My 4th grade math teacher, Ms. Taylor Towne. She taught me chants in order to solve different problems which I still remember and use to this day!
VYPE: Which teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Ben: Jordan Wilson. He made me see what great play looked like and was always working hard.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Ben: My dad. He works hard for everything he has and pushes me to do my best. He, and all of my family, are always there for me and push me to do my best, no matter the circumstances.
VYPE: What has been your favorite part about representing Edmond North as an athlete?
Ben: Being able to have a great team who is always competing for tournament wins and has a competitive team every year!
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Ben: You have to do whatever it takes to reach your goals.
